The short-wave infrared band refers to the band with a wavelength between 1400-3000 nm, which cannot be recognized by the naked eye. Minerals, artificial substances, and other ground objects have special components, and short-wave infrared can "see" this special component, but the naked eye and visible light near-infrared light waves are "invisible".

Introduction of SWIR lens

The SWIR lens is also an optical lens. Through the lens group, the short-wave infrared light emitted by the object is gathered on the image sensor, and the chip converts the photoelectric signal and finally forms the grayscale image of the object. The SWIR lens is similar to the visible light lens and mainly consists of an optical glass lens, but the SWIR imaging lens group must be specially designed, optimized, and prepared with antireflection film (antireflective film) according to the SWIR wavelength. Generally, the transmittance is>75% in the 700-1900nm band, and>80% in the 900-1700nm band; If a lens group designed for visible light is used for SWIR imaging, it will result in low image resolution (resolution is greatly reduced) and high optical aberration (and optical aberration becomes larger). The lens group and other optical elements (filter, window piece, etc.) of the SWIR lens can use the same manufacturing process as the optical elements of the visible light lens, so the manufacturing cost can be reduced.

Advantages of short-wave infrared imaging

Short-wave infrared imaging has an incomparable main advantage over other technologies, that is, it can image through glass. For the short-wave infrared camera, it is almost unnecessary to have a specially made and expensive lens or a shell adapted to a harsh environment. This makes them applicable to various industries. This capability also allows the short-wave infrared camera to be installed in a protective window, which will provide great flexibility when the camera system is fixed on a potential platform.

Application of SWIR lens

The excellence of the SWIR short-wave lens is that the germanium detection unit is directly grown on the production reading circuit wafer to produce hundreds of counts of imaging chips visible to short-wave infrared, with high reliability and wider wavelength response range, which can not only extend to the infrared band but also detect visible and near-infrared light. It is widely used in semiconductors, medicine, biology, night surveillance, and other fields that require simultaneous detection of visible and infrared light.

The company specializes in manufacturing infrared lenses, night vision lenses, and other customizable optical lenses for thermal imagers, infrared sights, night vision devices, infrared cameras, and drone monitors.
